At 7:16 a.m., police responded to South 14th Street and Springfield Avenue on a report of a man with a gun, Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said.
Rahman Grimsley was arrested at the scene following an altercation with a female driver, Miranda said. The woman reported that the sanitation worker pointed a handgun at her, Miranda said.
No injuries have been reported, Miranda said. Grimsley was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of an assault weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
